My first post here... so hello there everyone.
I'll get around to contributing more around the place soon, but for to get me started I have a problem...

I'm the proud owner of a Rock Lobster Team Tig 853, courtesy of the wonderful chaps at Merlin. I love the bike to bits. It looks great, rides great, was built tight and everything runs smooth as.
EXCEPT It's possibly got the thinnest, most fragile (beautiful as it is) paint job I've ever had on a bike. It's chipping somewhere almost every ride I take it out on.

I've seen a post here from someone selling a frame, and including touch up paint, apparently, so I guess it must exist?
Having phoned Merlin, they say they don't stock any, but have recommended I try some 'Volkswagen Tornado Red' paint from Halfords.

Has anyone tried this, or know of somewhere to source the real stuff?

Cheers in advance!

I have the same bike and believe it gets better looking the more scuffed it becomes. 853 doesn't rust much due to Cr content, so just be proud that you can see that it is used for it's intended purpose. Off-road bikes cannot be kept looking nice if used properly.

Merlin used to sell it, as I bought some a year or so back. I have used some red hammerite on the bit of the downtube that was getting rubbed by the roof carriers, and then helitaped it. Not a good colour match. I have a Tornado Red VW Golf and it's definately not the same colour as the bike though -)
