Friend of mine is looking for a bike on the cycle to work scheme, looking at about £800 mark. I was thinking a Kaffenback, what do the STW minds think, what have you got/seen out there.

Genesis is a good shout it has full rack mounts for light touring

Boardman Team CX. Weighs slightly less than the moon and has 10spd Sram Apex.
Pinnacle Arkrose 3 for me - CX based commuter, audax bike and potential tourer, depending on tyres and terrain.
edit - just saw the price limit - there was a review of the Arkrose 2 on road.cc the other day, think that may be closer to the budget, looked a really interesting set up.
I would have suggested the Pinnacle too but it may not be available on the OPs particular cycle scheme.
