What are the roads round ambleside like at the moment for cycling? We still have loads of ice on wee roads at home just wondering if its the same round there.

Just deliberating which bike to take for a few days riding. Would prefer the road bike so I can do some mountain passes.

The roads are generally pretty clear - just the odd frozen puddle in shaded areas, you should be fine on a road bike. Kirkstone pass is clear, though the struggle out of Ambleside is still closed as far as I know...

Main roads are fine. Dunno whether I'd fancy any of the passes. Corney fell was/is closed. So's Birker and Cold Fell.

Mainly fine but the smaller back roads a bit nasty. Under loughrig and east of Coniston are 2 that were bad on Tuesday but might be fine now as its all melting away

Ah thanks, road bike it is then. The plan is to do kirkstone so hopefully it'll be fully open later in the week.

Madness. Road riding in the lakes, akin to being in the playboy mansion and pulling Sandi Toksvig.
