Do a fair bit on road, 40km commutes (2way) a few times a week and then an off road MTB ride every couple of weeks. My e2 is getting past its best. Any recommendations for a helmet that looks ok on road (no peak) and off road?

I use one of these, both on and off road and it comes with a peak. I also have a Met Parachute and a Bell which don't get used too often.

Have a look and see what fits. I like Met helmets as they seem to fit me.

Another vote for the Specialized 2D.
I never bother removing the peak, Specialized peaks seem to work OK on the road bike too, no problems with vision.

Just get another E2. Works for me on and off road.

One that fits properly. Fit is the single most important aspect with helmets.

I got a Giro hex from crc and I use it on the road as well as off. The adjustable peak is great and it has enough airflow for my bonce.

Giro Monza here for £60 (or you could go for Atmos or Ionos if you're feeling flush)
