[#5042056]

Toying with the idea of a roadbike for the first time in years - the last one I had was a 2002 Euskaltel team bike which was great fun but utterly punishing.

I know naff-all about road bikes so I'm after some advice;

The bike would have to do a hilly 15mile commute (each way ๐Ÿ™ ) as well as the occasional touring/sportive/ 70 miles over the moor duty so I'm obviously thinking abut an audax type toy, the shortlist at the moment;

Pompetamine
Dawes clubman
Ribble steel winter trainer

I'm leaning toward the ribble - any thoughts/suggestions/opinions?

I like the look of the Ribble too.
Wiggle have the Cinelli Gazetta Strada too - if you want a full bike.

Giant Defy in aluminium, model/spec to suit budget. It's a fantastic frame that can take mudguards and a rack for commuting.

Buy the Ribble
It will do everything you ask of it and full guards are superb

Then mid summer after you get the bug sell all of your MTB's and buy a carbon sex machine as your "best bike"

Slippery slope ๐Ÿ™‚
