[#5188426]

I bought a pair of Diadora road shoes on sale at my LBS.
My gorilla feet go in okay, but they are tight accross the toes. After only about half an hour my toes then feet go numb, and feel really cold.
I guess it's because they are too narrow.
Is there such a thing as a comfy road shoe, that aren't stupid money.
Any ideas?

If they're too used to take them back, get them onto classifieds and use the cash towards something else - badly fitting road shoes IME have to be got rid of - you spend a long time pedalling and faster than MTB and therefore putting a lot of power through your feet - and if shoes don't fit it hurts, and likely to lead to injury.
I have superwide feet - G fitting. Shoes that don't work for me are Diadora, Adidas, Shimano and Sidi (standard fitting)- they all seem to be built on a narrow last.
Shoes that do are Specialized. All my riding shoes are Specialized and I've never had sore spots or pain from them. Hard to find on sale, but with a single physio session costing £40+, it seems worth it to me...
I can also recommend Superfeet insoles. Not that cheap (£30) but give a really solid base for your feet - much better than the standard insoles...and they'll last for years and years

If you've got wide feet, avoid any Italian shoes in standard fit. Even wide fit SIDI's, Diadora's, Gaerne's etc are often still a bit narrow for people with wide feet.

I've got very narrow feet so get on well with standard fit SIDI's, I find even Shimano standard width shoes too wide! Shimano also do a wide fit which may be somewhere to look on a budget at least.

I've found Northwave to be a bit more forgiving for larger feet.
They are deffo wider than most.

I've got broad feet, and find my Sidi mega's very very comfy. No pinchage at all, and they make me ride like a 16year old, nine stone whippet on EPO

my shoes are wide enough but i still get numbness, but weird forefoot angle contributes to this, i need lemond wedges(sp?) to sort it out but so far can't be arsed, inshoe wedges sorts it out on the mtb,

Northwave are good for wider feet, as are DHB from Wiggle, the latter probably being more competatively priced.

FYI, Bontrager kit has a comfort guarantee. Is they don't fit right you can take them back and/or swap them for another pair. Same applies to the saddles too 🙂
