sport I've ever done. Spoke to a mate the other day and he told me about his first road race and that it was the toughest thing ever.
I reckon it's because there isn't a soul there just out to finish.
Had a pop at many things that people think are pretty amazing, but in reality they wern't a patch on the simplest of races. I've completed a full Ironman, marathons, SDW foot race, loads of other Tri's, cross country for county and all sorts of weird stuff with the Army.
Hardest. Impossible to define definitively. I've pushed myself to uncosciousness through rowing but never on a bike even in the road races I've pushed myself hardest in.. Does that make it easy by comparison? Of course not, just different.
cycloross for me is the hardest of our family.
Completing and competing are different.
Racing in any disipline is hard.
