Specialized releasing the 2017 Venge VIAS Disc this week suggests it's only a matter of time.
only a matter of time.
Yep. As above.
Bianchi have put theirs out, Trek are doing some lovely stuff, and now Colnago have (sort of!) pulled their finger out with discs, there's nothing in the way of them rolling out fully.
Then again, discs are tehEVILBADNEZzz! BAN THEM! BAN THEM! Etc.

Doesn't really matter either way as the vast majority of these bikes never see a race. People buy them because it's fun to go fast and, lets face it, they want to look pro while they try and smash some strava segments. Those people use the bikes in the "real world" and may feel they want the reassurance of disc brakes (or in some way want to "future proof" their purchase.) That's why Specialized released the Venge VIAS Disc.
Unfortunately just as the UCI are poised to re-introduce disc brakes to the pro peloton Movistar rider Francesco Ventosa was involved in another crash , this time tangling with a DI2 equipped bike . On the back of his claims that he was electrocuted the UCI has banned the use of DI2 in the pro peloton .
