Anyone ever actually tried mating MTB cable disk brakes (BB7) to roadie levers? What happened? Too spongy, too sharp?
You used to be able to buy widgets to make roadie levers work with V-brakes. Does a disk version exist?
Anyone got a set of BB7 road brakes they want to move along?
There are road levers that will pull V brake ratio. Dia Compe make them. Gevenale also make integrated brake/shifters that pull Mtb ratios.
The v brake widget is the same for discs.
Wanting to use an existing set of Sora levers with a 9 speed MTB setup/gravel-type build on a 26" frame. Can't see how Travel Agent cable routing would work well plugged into a disk caliper. I have an old set of BB7 MTB brakes. Might just buy some cheap BB5 road calipers in the shorter term, but I'm trying to recycle existing kit as much as possible.
OK, apparently there was an in-line travel agent made - no longer available, and it looks like a horrible bodge, anyway.
I did the opposite, MTB levers with road brakes.
For a small amount of lever movement the brake moved a ton, the brake lever was really hard to pull and power was shite.
Get some road BB7s from eBay, they can be pretty cheap. Straight from Hong Kong or Taiwan.
I have, road calipers move more for the same pull, MTB calipers less. Putting MTB calipers on road levers means you have to set the pads really close to the disc, otherwise the levers will be at the bars before they engage. If the disc is not perfectly true, it will rub. If anything MTB calipers are too grabby as the leverage ratio is higher. I ended up buying nearly new road calipers from eBay pretty cheap they are a better match.
Yep, I've ordered a Sora caliper for £20 off eBay in the UK, that should work with the levers and my XT rotors. If it's ok I'll get another.
