Has anyone finally found road disc pads which heat up asap, saving the awful noise and lack of power that I get initially?

I've tried: Shimano, UberBike and Clarks - all resin/non-sintered.

I've only tried Swissstop and Sram pads, Sram where noisy where as the Swissstop pads where quiet.

Shimano resin pads should give good bite right away, but if you ride them in the wet on cruddy roads they get contaminated and sucky easily. For mostly dry weather use I find them excellent paired with Shimano XTR rotors.

For use in the wet on cruddy roads, I'm not sure anything will be contamination proof and give good initial bite, I used metallics for this, howled for a bit then died down. Perhaps ceramics could work.

I just use the standard resin Shimano pads. No noise. No power loss.

I bought the Uber bike then swapped back to shimano resin.
The squealing is so bad I can’t ride the bike now.
It’s leaky calipers, I’m going to order the Hope ones when I get round to it.

I only get noise from Shimano resin pads when they’re wet and cold and even then only for a few seconds.

SwissStop are better in the noise department.

Thanks all - so similar experiences to me!

Fwiw, I do bed the pads in with the Gert steep hill at the end of our road.

They do get manky, but even after a clean, a sand even, in dry weather in getting noise across three sets of cable operated discs...

Count yourself lucky to have that luxury!
The disc brakes on the winter road bike have been problematic and required lots of fettling and cleaning. To be honest, I’m glad I’m back on the best bike and can forget about squealing brakes till about October.

I've been round the houses with squealing disc brakes and I don't think you can truly consider them bedded in until you've really, really cooked them on something steep and long. My MTB is the only bike with halfway quiet brakes.

I think the manufacturer are scared of providing honest bedding in advice. Swissstop get close, they recommend something like 12 X 30 second hard stops from speed. If you think about it, that would take a great many reps up and down a very long steep hill! And don't forget, it's possible to de-bed in your rotors if you spend too much time braking gently and infrequently (e.g... like you would on a road or gravel bike 🙄)

Someone needs to hurry up and invent a disc brake bedding in machine for shops...

Edit: try bedding the rotors in on your MTB? Just ensure same brand/compound of pad in road/gravel bike as well.

Edit Edit: Swissstop yellow seem good on my MTB, soon to be available in TRP Spyre pattern.

Edit Edit Edit: I have a job lot of different brands of Spyre pad, PM me your address 👍

How come someone can't design the love child of discs and rim brake compound pads?
Cheaper pads may wear out quicker, but would be silent, immediately powerful and just cost less (as rim pads do...).
