[#6584726]

I am being forced onto my road bike over winter due to an imminent ACL op.
So i need to get some mud guards for my road bike. I am running continental grand prix 400s tyres on a Ribble sportive frame with very little clearance for guards. What's available that takes up very little room and does not need fixing eyes. I have looked at the Crud ones but is there anything else ?

SKS Raceblades now come in a longer flavour.
Crud Roadracers work as long as you follow the fitting instructions.

+1 for Crud Raceguards. I had to cut mine down to fit them as my rear tyre is so close to the frame by the front mech. Work very well still.

+ for Race Blades.
Currently got Cruds, and they're crap. Rub if you hit a bump, rub in the wind, even manage to move when just on the turbo?!

My old Ribble alu/carbon thing had almost zero clearance for mudguards. Couldn't even fit a set of the crud ones in there. The raceblade longs did fit and were awesome.

Crud Raceguards are absolutely terrible.
Probably worst bike component I have ever bought.
Even their MTB rear ones are rubbish, they just rattle after a few weeks and no way to tighten them up.

SKS all the way.

+1 for SKS, my crud guards went in the bin after the first ride. Awful things.

Wow , it looks like we have a winner, SKS race blades it is then. :-)I have just checked CRC and they have them in 3 sizes and my current tyres are the 23c version but may fit some thing slighty bigger for full on winter. So can i get away with the 18-23c version or is the 23-32 a safer bet? Bearing in mind the lack of clearance.

I'd go bigger as they're not exactly going to make any aero difference and they'll stop even more crap being chucked off the wheel at your arse. They'll also allow you to fit a broader tyre when you feel like it.
