I have a Btwin Triban 300 that I have had since April to see if I get on with bike commuting. Turns out I do. I have ridden it though all but the very worst of the weather this year. Generally average around 17-19mph.
So Boyed by this success its time to buy a “proper” road bike. I have a 2Kish budget and love the look of “aero” road bikes.
This bikes sole duty will to get me to work and back (10 miles each way)+15miles extra on way home if I fancy it (Given the choice I will always go MTB). The terrain is pretty flat.
Im 5’4 so need small frame to be avalible.
At the moment I’m leaning towards this…

What else should I consider?
*EDIT* under no cicumstance will i ever put mudgaurds on any bike ever, my personal choice 🙂

To be fair, there's loads at that budget, just down to personal choice/ size available I guess..

Then make sure it doesn't have a rearward facing slot in the seat tube.. 🙂
Giant Defy Advanced or TCR??
I've done a fair amount of research on this very subject recently and came to the following short list:
Dolan Tuono - Carbon frame, Ultegra groupset, Zipp wheels for just under £2k. Tempting.
Various Sensa bikes - £2k gets you the aero (looking) Calabria frame with Ultegra and full carbon wheels or Ultegra Di2 and "normal" wheels.
I've settled on the Sensa bikes and mused between aero and non-aero on this thread. I will be going for non-aero but it was a marginal decision.
Dolan Tuono - Carbon frame, Ultegra groupset, Zipp wheels for just under £2k.
Chuffin 'eck!
Chuffin 'eck!
Indeed. The only reason I've not gone for that is the BB30 bottom bracket which I have a bit of irrational fear about.
I think the Dolan is going to get the nod (alu braking surface on the zipp wheels tipping it)
Thanks lunge
Heavy old wheels those, I'd rather the Mavic Ksyrium SLS option, at least for an everyday bike.
