Steve died of a heart attack today.
To say we are shocked is an understatement ๐Ÿ™

What a terrible bit of news. I've been reading Steve's work since the early 90s in MBUK.
Just shows how fragile life is.
My thoughts are with those who knew him personally.

Shocking news. As Mrs NBT said, Steve's writing forms part of my mountain biking. His articles in the magazines when I first started riding were always good reading. RIP.

To me he always seemed like the kind of guy you'd be glad you'd bumped into and chatted to.

I was so glad when he started writing for STmag. It brought back memories of the articles I used to read in the 1990's in MBUK.
Enjoyable articles written by Steve who was so experienced in the world of mtbing with so much knowledge.

RIP

Very sad news. Grew up on Steve's journalism. Must be very difficult for family and friends to lose someone so suddenly like that ๐Ÿ™

Far too young. Through his work I feel like I knew him, he leaves a wonderful legacy but many years to soon.

Real shame. There's not many journos names I remember but he definitely is one of them. Especially from MBUK in the 90s when it all began.

No way.......I didn't know him personally but I felt like I grew up with him from those early mountain bike days. His reviews were really the only ones I ever trusted. An all round good guy. RIP.

That's an almighty shock and very, very sad news. As others have said, he's someone that took me right back to when it all started and it seems unfathomable he should be lost so young. RIP and sincerest condolences to family, friends and colleagues. A significant loss to cycling and beyond.

Sad, sad news, best wishes to his family and friends.

A great writer and reviewer, he cost me a fortune after his Jones 3d Spaceframe review about 6 or 7 years ago.

Rest In Piece fella

Our young sport has has lost a true gent today. Steve was always an honest, trusted, respected, likeable, amiable, passionate man with an authoritative air to all he did. There can't be many who haven't acted on what he said and believed in what he did. Anyone out there with silly bars, baggy shorts and a big grin should be raising a glass tonight to Steve. Long live his words and his memory. Goodnight Steve, you'll be missed by many, but thoughts to your family. Tomorrows forecast for a windswept ride seems far more appropriate now than when I was whingeing about it earlier today.
