he was reported to have had only eight hours of sleep during his eight-day, 2958.5-mile (4761.2 km) ride across the United States.

I'm also 45 and I only had three hours sleep on my three-day, 1200km Paris-Brest-Paris across France so I was just about as hard a rider as him (pro-rata). I don't really want to get taken out by a car though, so the comparison ends there.

Seriously though, a tragic loss ๐Ÿ™ and the man was still going strong and doing and winning these mega endurance events in his mid-forties.

That is truly tragic ... after watching him on the RAAM documentary I had the utmost respect for this man.. total dedication.

Another tragic loss to cycling.
