Ok picked up a decent rear hub. Just need a decent rim.

Choices though!

Criteria:

I'm heavy at 95kg's sans kit and of course I need something that will be robust but still 32hole. I don't want full on heavy or too xc (narrow) though.

Tubeless? TBH I don't really pinchflat.

What do you recommend?

Mavic XC717, works fine for me at 95kg, 92 now, so probably 95 with kit.

stans flow 🙂 all the strength and tyre shape of an 321 for the weight of a 717. Doesn't matter if you don't want tubeless, they are still great rims.

mavics are so last millenium!

Mavic EN521. Nice and wide, totally bomb proof and good value. Not the lightest though

Capn are they the rebadged 321's? 717's = too narrow. I'll pinch flat them as I do run my tyres at just over 30psi. ( I know)

521 == 321 with a new sticker AFAIK.

If you want strong and light, ditch the mavics and come over to stan's 🙂

Hora, nope. Different profile and lighter. 21mm bead so nice and wide. I'm nothing like as big as you, but I've done some serious slamming into water bars and general incompetence but they are still dead true and no tweaks needed after 18 months.

Just had a quick look at prices. EN521 Exactly half the price of Stans Flow, albeit heavier and not tubeless
