[#12537125]

Hi
I have a puncture hole in my rim. Not sure how it happened but it’s been there for ages and been fine so I am guessing the rim tape was keeping it isolated from the tyre. Rims are aluminium, syncros silverton 2.0.
Now I’ve taken a tyre off and reseated it it’s no longer fine and the rim is forcing air out.
I’m going to get it re-taped but wonder if there’s some guidance on repair. It’s only accessible from the outside, can’t get to it from in the rim itself so I can’t seal up the back unfortunately.
Pics hopefully show what I am describing. The hole is about a large pin hole I’d say.
Cheers

Looks like a double-walled rim, with the major (only?) damage on the outside wall (I can't see the/an inner hole at all).  That's not relevant to air leakage if your inner rim is taped correctly; my guess is that you have a strong chance of stopping the air leak on retaping (and reseating your valve)

No idea whether there's a structual issue with the wheel though

Can't see the pics, but a lot of rims have holes in the outer surface. My Race Face ones definitely do (Probably part of the manufacturing process?)

First time I set them up tubeless air was escaping from said holes, and it just told me that I needed to restape and check the valves were seated properly, no problems since.

Hole on the outside is irrelevant to the tire leaking. You need to retape/check valve seating as above.

Yeah, typically 28 or 32 of them!

Thanks all. Gonna re tape it. It was fine before I struggled to get a tyre off and I reckon I broke a seal somewhere. Hole defo not supposed to be there as the rear is clean.
Strangely this is where the air was gushing out of and not any of the spokes so I imagine it must have been the easiest place for it to get out.
Cheers.
