There was a thread on here recently - rigid forks + rear sus why not?

http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/rigid-forks-rear-sus-why-not

Seemed to suggest a bad idea. Do the same principles apply if it's a softail frame (1.5" suspension)? Be keen to lighten my bike for winter and wonder if carbon/ti forks would be a neat complement to the softail ride?

Thanks

Guy I know has a thudbuster on his cross type bike. Don't know if that helps?

The bike is pink.

The same principles apply but to a lesser degree - your softail is just there to take the sting out of things rather than to vastly enhance control. I'd say go for it if you really want to. Not sure a lighter bike for winter will really matter once it's covered in cack though.

Softail with a rigid fork and a fat/+ size front tyre would be a good compromise.
