Out with my mate for a ride last night - he on his 6" Marin and me on my fully rigid Bianchi. My first off-road ride for a few weeks and I had forgotten how "right" my bike feels.

Now my mate is no slouch - especially on the climbs - but he had a blast on my beasty and was very impressed about how fast my bike romped up the hills, always encouraging a bit more speed.

He's not the first full-suss riding mate to have forgotten the pleasures of riding rigid - the revival starts here ๐Ÿ™‚

Is this like Gay pride but with a bit more pain because there is no give?

I think that the revival started about 10 years ago. If it ever went away...

I have three mtbs - rigid, hardtail, full sus - it's nice to have variety in life...

Fully rigid Bianchi eh?

Brilliant wee bike, descended like a hare on steroids (or at least it felt like it did...)

an exciting (to me) addition to my OP is that he may want to borrow it for SITS instead of his full susser (not surprised, his bike felt like a worn-out mattress)

Bikes. If you're only racing yourself it doesn't matter how good anyone else's is. ๐Ÿ™‚
