I'm off there on Saturday en route to Scotland. I was planning a ride in Grizedale on Sunday but have heard it's not great in the wet..........& it's forecast to rain on Saturday. Is this the case & if so are there any other places the STW massive could recommend.

Grizedale is fine in the wet, its not muddy its just rocks and gravel. Certain tracks even seem grippier in the wet.

Alternatively, take your bmx and hit up all the good street spots like Booths car park, Lightburn park and the Kiosk

Are you talking about the North Face Trail? Some of the boardwalk stuff on there is slippery in the wet, but its a crime to go to Grizedale and just do that. Grizedale is generally a really good all weather spot as its mostly rocky.

Depends what sort of riding you're after and what kind of distance / time.

If you fancy some moorland riding there's Woodland Fell / Blawith Common. You could link that with a foray into Grizedale, or Torver / Tranearth area. If you're not a frequent visitor to the area, personally I think you'd be missing out by just riding in Grizedale.

I live here, so consider myself well-placed to offer advice! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Then again, I've been riding the local trails for 20 years so what I find a bit over-familiar may well be mindblowingly good if you're new to it.

I'm a 50 year old southern shandy drinker & would aim for a 3-4 hour ride - if an XC-ish loop springs to mind please let me know.

Thanks
