Hi,

We've got a week in Matlock next week and want to do a couple of off-road rides. Can anyone recommend some routes that they have done? nothing too epic <50miles. Can do .gpx files too!

Cheers,
Andy

This is just about less than 50 miles now, when you go on the Monsal Trail, you don't need to go into Little Longstone any more, as the tunnel underneath Monsal Head is open to bikes again.

You can turn left at Great Longstone and skip the northwest loop - still be lots of nice scenery, and I really like those bits best personally.

Or, there is a lovely very short loop from (these are the things marked on the OS map) Bakewell -> Monsal Trail (heading South) -> Bowling Green Farm -> Calton Pastures -> Chatsworth/Edensor -> Ball Cross Farm -> Bakewell

There are loads of shorter routes round there - the white peak mountain biking book has most of the good legal ones in it.

Some great riding around Riber / Cromford / Bonsall, although a lot is unmarked / hard to explain, maybe someone will have some GPXs to email you for that.

Matlock MTBers (Matlock cc) meet up most Sat mornings at 930am from by the busstation. They do loads of good routes.

There's masses around here, so don't miss out ! If you fancy an evening ride (I'm at work) then I'm sure me / mrs alanbill99 could show you round ?
