doing more riding than I have done for nearly 4yrs...and I am starving most of the time.
thing is, I don't want to put any of my idiet lost weight back on.
protein drink? some fruit? what else might suffice.

High in protein, with a few carbs, should stave off the hunger. Bearing in mind if you do put any weight on it'll likely be muscle rather than bodyfat, with the increased riding regime.

I've always thought you're better viewing yourself in the mirror than weighing, as the scales can be misleading.

Can't help you I'm afraid. I've ridden a fair few miles this year so far and seem to be eating everything in sight. Hoping appetite will setle down before long!

30 calories a mile is 15,000 per month for your 500 miles or about 500 extra calories a day. Porridge in the morning before riding stems my hunger pangs. And something in the afternoon to fuel the ride home.

gotta disagree with this totally. If you're not built like a ten year old you're not going to be putting on any muscle cycling unless you're doing big efforts like sprints, and even then the only way anyone can put on muscle in any circumstance is with a big calorie surplus.

I would be looking to eat enough to replace the calories used in exercise as well rather than just trying to "stave off" the hunger (otherwise you will just crash sooner or later), so I would be eating more carbs. You can have iDave compliant beans/lentils/quinoa/sweet potatoes if you like although personally I have no problems with rice/normal potatoes/fruit etc on training days.

I was thinking some oats for breakfast rather than my eggs, and my 3 eggs mid morning as a snack, and then a protein drink mid afternoon.

yeah sounds good. Maybe just [chocolate] milk instead of protein drink, for the extra calories/fat as well as the protein.

Ton,

Don't know if you are watching your calorie intake as well as eating the food stuffs in the idiet however it may be an idea to have a look at a couple of apps if you are smart phone savvy - my fitness pal and endomondo which can link together to give you a daily target calorie allowance and offset that with the calories burnt with the added cycling.

Protein shakes and fruit as snacks and then more protein, veg, rice for tee.

If you're eating the right things, you shouldn't be scared to eat.

A small glass of beetroot juice (nicer than it sounds) and a banana when I get back sorts out desire to commit genocide on the fridge.
