Hi, I need a new riding jacket for the winter. Doesn't have to be bike specific just light and waterproof. Here's the tricky bit need to be suitable for a 6'4" fat bloke.
Can anyone recommend anything in particular?

Cheers.

Here you go - not cheap but durable and great quality. Disclaimer - I used to be one of their brand ambassadors.

Alternatively, D2D make some decent stuff in big sizes as well.

Madison worth considering BigM, and usually available at bike shops to try on too.

Thanks for the suggestions, probably a cycling orientated for me.
Will try and find somewhere that stocks Madison stuff.

I feel your pain BigM.

I've got an old Endura Gridlock jacket in XXL, that's on its last legs, which is around 48" to 50" chest. Everything made by Endura, Altura, Madison, or any reasonably priced makers seem to be 45-46" chest as an XXL.

The only thing I can find at proper big sizes are Fat Lad At The Back, but it's mostly roadie kit. I'm also loathed to pay £150 for a jacket I'm likely to ruin by falling off.

I've crashed twice in FLAB jerseys this year, once on tarmac, once off road. Both jerseys did were unscathed. No reason to doubt the jackets won't be as tough. I've a 3 year old winter jacket that is now demoted to off road riding and it's still going great

Worth looking at the decathlon jackets, berghaus xxl is very generous too.

another option if you don’t mind the ‘warry’ look is a British army MVP lightweight jacket, about £30.

Don't lose faith, although I totally agree xxl cycling can be a bit of a joke.

I use a lot of Polaris stuff. It’s well-priced, lasts forever and seems to be cut to fit actual people.

Dare2be are good, especially if you catch them in the sales.

Polaris is ok but I'm only a little smaller than the OP (from the description) and their XXXL is still a little tight around the mid rift on some jackets.

195cm and 115kg here, had good luck recently with Nukeproof (Backline Soft-shell in XXL) and ShowersPass (Transit jacket - in XL, had to send the XXL back as it was truly enormous).

both the above are a good length, and with a good fit for me (both bordering on too big, but the length is good so don't want to size down).

I have a FLAB zippy fleecy jacket thing a couple fo years old now - its OK, I like rear pockets and a wee zippy for keys, but arms are a bit short, and overall the length is too short even with a big size for gut/chest (50). If I sized up again for length it would be hella baggy.

Everything else I have found very inconsistent in sizing. HTH

Apparently there's now a "big and tall" FLAB range. I'm short and chunky, so not checked it out.

Berghaus XXL’s are pretty big.
I struggle to find jackets big enough too! I recently bought a Scott goretext shell jacket and was surprised how big it was. Fits great in XXL.
