You've got Woburn/Woburn Sands nearby and Chicksands a bit further away.

There's also loads of cycle paths all over the city for a bit of urban action

When are you here and where are you staying?

We had an after work ride yesterday around the Millenium loop which is a well signed 15 mile circuit of the redways. Not exactly hardcore but on a SS it is a nice leg warmer and there is quite a nice old pub in Great Linford called the Nags Head.

You'll find details of the Woburn routes at

http://www.woburntrails.co.uk/index.html

That's the main MTB area around here.

Don't worry I rode s/s rigid for years there, during winter I ride my crosser so don't worry about the bike.
I just ride a XC hardtail now.

Woburn would be right nice on your SS, There is as much single/double track as well as the jumpy play area.

Where are you staying?

Woburn has some great singletrack, but I think you'll need a guide to get the best out of it as it seems quite easy to get lost without a gps etc. The freeride area is good fun as well but I found a lot of the stuff was too big for me.

Struggling to find a map of it though. AS others have said Woburn can be ridden on an SS no problem.

bollard are you driving to the start of your ride? because my old lot go out Tuesday nights from Stockgrove Park near Heath & reach. Two groups slow ๐Ÿ™ or faster/fun/chat/play ๐Ÿ˜€
Edit; It's not a training night, we do that other days, this is pure social.
