So I have seen some good video clips and pictures and heard good things related to the riding around Alton. Spend a bit of time looking over the OS Map and there looks to be quite a bit of ground to cover when I do make it up there for an explore.
Can anyone give me a hint of a good place to park and start? My first thought looking at the map was parking at Hansley Cross and riding towards oakamoor via dimmings dale
yes I have a great route which I can send you the gpx for. have you ridden around there before? I like to start at the Queens pub (ST10 1RF
) and do the 3 short drops around the quarry before climbing over to dimmingsdale. The BWs there are concessionary bridleways so won't show on the OS maps.
The top of dimmingsdale will be a muddy hellhole at the moment, it's an area which is best left till the spring. Do you live in staffs?
I'm at work at the moment but can email you later. my email on profile.
Not ridden there before but heard via friends of friends etc its good. If you could ping over the gpx route that would be great(I'll you send an email). I did think I'd wait till the weather got a tab better. but I'm currently sat here at work looking over the OS maps at areas I need to visit for the first time or return trips lol. currently plotting a route around long mynd. ๐
I'm in the Lichfield, staffs not too far from Cannock
If Jekkyl offers to show you around, I'll come too ๐
Some really good stuff in those woods, but he's right much of it will be a quagmire at the moment.
haha, yeah we'll all go down, why not. I have it on good authority that the trail fairies have been at work on the steep downhilly stuff the other side of Stoney Dale, so that bit should be good at least.
steep stuff is what I want ๐ sounds good.
differently sounds more interesting that the Cannock loop I'll be doing tomoz afternoon
