I'm looking for a fit-and-forget BB for DUB cranks in a BSA frame. I'm assuming the Sram ones don't last two minutes, and the reviews for the Wheels Manufacturing ones don't seem good either.
The Rideworks ones look good - UK made, no adaptors like the Hope one. But I can't find any long term reviews on them - do they last OK?
Having tried lots of dub bb's... that all failed early, I would suggest that a perfectly threaded and faced bb shell is critical to bb durability more than whatever spendy bottom bracket is fitted. A sram dub bb is ok if the alignment is spot on.
Also, if you are hunting around, see if one exists with a plastic top hat between the crank spindle and the metal inner bearing race. They are mostly not like that, so when the bearing inevitably fails, it scores a groove.Â
I used to use a Rideworks EBB and it was great, even with my total lack of care. (Changed bike config and no longer needed EBB, else would still be running one.)
i have a wheels MF one, so far so good, i was burning through 2 to 3 dub bbs a year, but this wheels one is nearly a year in and feels good still
