Visiting some friends in Coulter for the weekend, a village just south of Biggar. Anyone know of good routes in the area? - there's loads of hills.

Was thinking of going back up the road a bit to look at the south Pentlands. I've never ridden south of the Slap - it all looks a bit featureless though, anyone done stuff up round Dolphinton way?

Great wee route from Coulter...head south on tarmac to Cowgill, Head up past Cowgill Loch to Baitlaws, Start climbing up to hardrig via Easkgill rig (never went via Bent rig, its up to you), a bit of heather bashing is required. Pick up the heathery double track with the windfarm workings on your right and then enjoy the drop down to Cowgill upper Reservoir(you may get wet feet here after rain). Climb up to Cowgill Rig and back onto tarmac for your return.A lovely wee couple of hours or so.
