Majority vote on here gets it cos I'm unable to make my mind up! ๐
I'm facing a 15 mile ride home or I can nip down the road and get the train.
Arguments for train:
Punctured this morning on the way in so now have no spare tube
Frequent heavy showers
It's mostly uphill
It's a rubbish ride on busy roads through Manchester's less affluent areas
Arguments for bike:
TTFU
I could do with the training
It's free, train costs money!
I'll count up the bike/train votes at 5 when I leave...
The weathers not too good here James. Depends if you have a head wind or tail.
I'd ride if I were you 'cos I know how fit you are.
Ride.
Weather here has just become properly torrential, it's like a river outside!
Had I got a spare tube I wouldn't be too bothered but if I puncture again I'm stuffed.
I gave up and got the bus today. Absolutely knackered from getting a new road bike and keeping the 20 mile/day commute going. And I've been drenched 5 times this week.
To equal things out, you should ride home ๐
Ride.
But fix the tube before you go.
train. you'll get more than enough training riding with me ;-D
Ride, and beat the train.
Train & then a beer at a nice pub
It's Friday FFS!
Ride.
Ride
Can you get the bike on the train as well as you? probably not, not in rush hour anyway. There might not be rules like you get in london, but some jobsworth will give you grief. Does that help make a decision?
Bike on train = no problem, done it before both into and out of Manchester.
always ride
forgot sorry, no trains in the 3 peaks, fix that puncture and ride, softie (I drove in today)
no bike shops in manc?
buy another tube and ride, or get the train halfway, and stop at the pub...
I've got to ride home in the rain, no train option for me
So Ride ๐
definately ride. Rode in this morning, 20 miles in torrential rain and it was still bloody great.
Strong headiwnd and heavy showers for the way but it's still a fantastic way to finish the working week. Bottle of leffe in the fridge and my lovely wife will have a glass poured for me as I put the bike in the garage.
HTFU and ride. Just wave as you go past me ๐
(you started at the NCC now?)
(you started at the NCC now?)
Yes. ๐
Get the train. A little bit of luxury once in a while won't hurt.
yay! I'll pop in and say hello next time I'm there
(and surely you can nick a spare tube from someone there!)
Get the train. Then look along the start line at the Three Peaks and wonder who there rode today ๐
If the NCC stands for what I think it does, then you've no excuse for not being able to get another tube, surely?
MTFU and Ride..
๐
Ride... wuss.
ride - i've got 15 mile ride home, so if i'm getting wet so should you
Ride. Put some mental distance between work and home, you'll be ready to relax. Trains will be all wet, damp and smelly if it's raining, too.
Ride back!
If I see your bike on the new mills train I'll slash your tyres! ๐
James works on the NCC 1701D. He's my hero.
Ride down to mine. we'll have a beer, and then I'll take you home.
ride............ have just done it against a strong head wind but you know what i loved it...... ๐
ride, what sort of silly question is this?
MTFU and ride...
Oh and:
HeathenWoods - MemberGet the train. A little bit of luxury once in a while won't hurt.
Please tell me that is sarcasm... Or you have a very very low opinion of what constitutes luxury...
LOL!
OK, I've fixed my tube.
Work all seems done so I'm leaving early. Weather is good. Wind is favourable.
I'm riding. If I get knocked off or get TWO punctures, I'll blame STW.
Thanks all. ๐
I once walked 7 miles to work after flatting mid-commute and having no spares etc. Luckily no rain. I'd ride if I were you, a short walk is no worry.
Ride
Walk, and push the bike. that way you'll get super fit, and won't get another puncture. And it's free.
You know it makes sense.
Ride
I think he has gone home now folks! ๐
Damn part timers, screwing up our advice and MTFU thread!
Great ride home for me, expected rain and headwind all the way. No rain, sunshine and mainly side winds with a smattering of headwind was the order of the day. Great way to finish the week.
Same here Gary_M!
Thanks for making my decision for me, I rode home. Threatened rain a couple of times but nothing other than a slight drizzle for 2 mins. Side/tail winds. A good run of green lights. Traffic was horrendous, snarled up beyond belief but I could just zip straight down the outside or middle. A lot of the junctions were so badly jammed up that, even on a red I could just nip across.
Best of all, I got home and 15 mins later it chucked it down. So I now feel really smug at beating the traffic jams and the weather.
May you all have a ride this weekend as good as the one I've just had. ๐
