It's been a while but I do find that I'm a fair bit less cool than usual if I feel that someone has tried to hurt/kill me with their car. Even less cool if it's deliberate. I think that's generally fairly standard behaviour for humans.

What makes this incident special is that now it's gone public, a lot of other alleged 'misdemeanours' connected with this chap are coming out of the woodwork. And the naked tiny knob pic is just... priceless! This thread is worth reading. I can't keep away. I keep looking at twitter on my phone as well.
Must. Look. Away. And. Get. Some. Work. Done. Oh look, @theJeremyVine is having a go at him now!

Awoooga!...
<circular thread alert>
Appreciate the 'I struggle with long sentences' sentiment, but actually RATS would stop you making the same (fairly obvious) point that has already been made several times, AND is arguably the actual point of STW. Y'know; RATStrackworld.

EDIT; LOVING the auto edit for I.N.R.A.T.S. ๐Ÿ˜† ๐Ÿ˜† ๐Ÿ˜† Brill

Well to be fair that's kind of inevitable after 7 or 8 pages. Maybe they should add a sticky to the top of every page of a thread after about 4 pages:

"Please RATS before commenting, somebody else has almost certainly already written what you're thinking"

A look at the "cycle infrastructure" along that road: https://aseasyasridingabike.wordpress.com/2015/06/02/the-solution-is-design/

[img] [/img] nothing wrong with that...

aracer...

I presume you don't think your point might have already been made and answered several times?

[s]
Yeah I thought it may have been, apologies for voicing my opinion without downing tools at work and spending an hour or so reading through the thread in detail. I genuinely didn't realise this wasn't allowed on here.[/s]

I couldn't care in the slightest whether it had or not...I was voicing my opinion which may or may not be the same as others on here

According to http://brew-cafe.com/our-story/ Jason Wells @BrewWells has a personal trainer.

Jason, it's not working. Get a bike.

Can see this whole thing becoming a study topic for Social media marketing courses, all quite interesting really.

If all of the stuff coming out of the woodwork about this fella is even half true, then this is one of the best examples of karma I've seen for a while.

A nice steady stream of customers going in, ordering a coffee before patting their pockets, looking blank and saying "sorry; forgot my wallet" ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

I hope none of his staff lose their jobs due to cyclists trying to take 'revenge' on the owner of the business.

You mean if people boycott his businesses? Sadly that's not the fault of cyclists, its his fault for being a ****.

Apparently he doctors time sheets, and doesn't pay them properly anyway. Coupled with the facts he's insolvent, and apparently has a fondness for subatsnces, its highly likely that they'd be better off elsewhere.
Is it disproportionate? well yes, but so is threatening to kill someone for little more than riding a bike.

Interesting bit of social justice:

What, 100 odd people signing a meaningless online petition? Wooo, way to go with the social justice, everyone!

As others have said, yes, he's an asshat, but there's a point at which the social media mob fires up the pitchforks that gets a little silly. Hoardes of people saying they're going to boycott the business when they never have, or never will, been anywhere near any of them anyway. Then, irony of ironies, people firing up their social media accounts to say he should be killed/punched/etc. The mob becomes as bad as the asshat.

I think it was Alex who posted a link to this earlier, http://www.amazon.co.uk/So-Youve-Been-Publicly-Shamed/dp/1594487138 It's very much worth reading, a valuable insight in to the new world in which pointless petitions are seen as "social justice".

Did I say voice an opinion either way CFH? No, I didn't......

I just said it was interesting.

So, you know, dial down the sarcasm - it's not really required as it detracts from the rest your comment.

Apologies if that came out the wrong way, MrL, was more aimed that the concept that such a petition could, in any way, be construed as "social justice"! Which may have been your point!

If so, perhaps time to move on.

Well i will be carrying on going to Brew in Putney most weekends as there food and coffee is fricking awesome. Don't care if the owner is a dick, i am sure their are owners of many restaurants who are dicks, shouldn't really impact your decision making.

If the stories are true about the way he treats his staff, that would defiantly affect my decision making about using a business. In fact I would be quite happy to avoid any business that I knew was owned by an aggressive nasty dick head.

And in general I use information to help form decision making, you obviously use other methods.

Information - great food, great drinks, great service, great location (for me).

Speculation - one video of one man being wound up by a cyclist.
Speculation - "...if the stories are true about how he treats....."

LOL, it was the driver being wound up by the cyclist ๐Ÿ˜†

Information - man deliberately turns in on cyclist, jumps out of car and starts verbally abusing and threatening cyclist.

Anyway your statement was that knowing a business owner was a dick shouldn't inform your decision. I disagree I think it should.

Wound up ? If he had come at me like that I think I would have floored him .The cyclist only says "oh come on" to start with and he went mental.

You know for sure exactly what happened prior to the start of that video do you?

Both the cyclist and the driver were being complete dicks. But you don't know how it started. I cycle along that road several times a week and the attitude of a large proportion of cyclists is extremely confrontational, as it is within Richmond Park just 1/2 mile down the road. Both peoples behaviour can not be excused.

We know another cyclist and car passed the cyclist first, so it is highly probable that that was "first contact". The cyclist was acting perfectly reasonably, normally and legally until an attempted assault with a two ton vehicle.

But you can pretend there is something more to it if you want.

Again speculation, not saying that is not what happened but you don't actually know do you?

That road is notorious for cyclists riding in an aggressive and anti-social manner and just prior to that video is a very busy junction so you have no idea what happened prior to the video.

As I said, the attitudes of both of them is appalling.

Why was the cyclist a dick ? He only gave as good as he got.

Irrespective of the knobbery of the owner, it says something relatively profound about people who voluntarily go to places where they expect you to eat off a slab of wood. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I can use the information available to me and make an informed decision. What I am not doing is speculating that there is something more to it that there is absolutely no evidence to support.

Either idiotic or trolling

A very intelligible comment.

I will leave it there, but again to reiterate you don't know what happened prior to that video being aired and discussing it within our cycling meet last night everyone agreed that the cyclist was being as much of a dick as the driver. If you have ever ridden along that stretch of road and seen some of the behaviours you may be willing to entertain the fact that not all cyclists are angels.

yes we do, the gimp tells us why he's angry.... the cyclist should be on the cycle path and not the road. I'm sure if there were other reasons the gimp would have mentioned them.
