Hi all - want to take my son to Rheola on Saturday - had a look on map etc, all looks a bit vague - don't want to get there and not find it/find the track. I've attached an aerial photo of the general area where it is -if someone could draw roughly on it where the car park, route up and down is to give us a clue what to look for that would be V. much appreciated. Also does it get busy? - will it be a problem if we're a bit slow going down! - Son's on a Supreme mini Dh but I'll be on my Meta - presume its ok to turn up there and ride anytime? or can you just ride organised uplifts etc?- Cheers for any help. Glenn (have posted same message on Southerndownhill)

Copy and paste 51.732743,-3.668883 into google maps. The green arrow is the area where the track ends*.
51.741159,-3.679841 green arrow is the start of the track (near the mast)
It used to be (don't know the current situation but I think it still is) a working mine/quarry so the fireroads carried a lot of trucks. Best way up (apart from official uplift) is to push up the track but be warned its going to take around a hour to push up to the top.
Never known it get that busy outside of races. I wouldn't worry about being slow, its steep, rocky, rooty and technical but there's nothing on it you won't get down on your Meta, though your son will have the better time of it on his bike.
Don't know about riding it outside organised events - I think its now more official than it used to be.
*Edit to say there is more than one end to the track
Colin-T - thanks for that - a big help - can see the top section of the trail on the satellite
Can you park the car in the area you indicated at the bottom - presume bottom of trail is easy to spot and wide enough to push up without getting hit by someone on the way down?
Thanks again - Cheers Glenn
Its a while since I've been there outside of an uplift day or race so I can't comment on where you can legally park except to say that there is lots of space to put a car either in the area indicated or nearby.
Pushing up the side of the track when possible is usually better form than pushing up the track itself, parts are steep narrow and the riders can come down fast so take care if its busy, you should have a decent idea of how busy it is from the number of cars/vans at the bottom.
Bottom of the trail is reasonably easy to spot, its where the fire-road continues west after the clearing.
