I've had my reverb for 15 months, works fine but had minimal play on the upper. Took to LBS for a service, had a call today Rock Shox have quoted £195!!!!

I know it basically boils down to me not taking it in sooner, but just a warning to any one else who hasn't had theirs done. Mine gets cleaned with a hose after every ride and lubed with fenwick.

Buy a new one for that and a warranty!

What was wrong?

Mine gets cleaned with a hose after every ride.

There's your problem..... Mine doesn't get cleaned unless its properly caked in cack, then it gets wiped. Never lubed it. It's been faultless for 18 months.

You could buy a Lev for that, all you have to then is hope you don't need to claim on the warranty for it.

I didn't think mine was broken, it was just preventative.

How is it possible to service a fork for £85-ish when something that is basically half a fork costs twice as much?

I'm soooooo glad I see through these latest fashion accessories....... 🙂

Not much help I realise.....but I made a little mud deflector for mine. It hangs down from the seat & stops the shiny bit getting covered in Cak & blasted with grit. Looks carp but works a treat 😀

Thought they had 2yr warranty?

"Except as otherwise set forth herein, SRAM warrants its products to be free from defects in materials or workmanship for a period of two years after original purchase."

so it worked fine, yet it is worn where you cant see it? 😕

We do full Reverb services at £69.99 which is all seals and all oil (the oil to operate the remote is separte to the oil in the post itself)
Seals for just the post (air seals, bushes and pins) are also available for home 'basic' services.

I Think you need to look at them like forks and shocks, in that they need to be serviced Fully every 12 to 18 months, with them being cleaned and re lubed every 6 minimum reallt to keep them tip top. Quite alot of force is put on them and they're going to get covered in dirt too.

If you're not happy with the function get it back to the retailer for a warranty inspection at SRAM.
By their nature you may get a little mor movement than with a 'normal' post but a major wobble may suggest some issues, there are different size guide pins/keys which yo can adjust movement/play with if necessary.

Sorry but why on earth would you spend £195 servicing something that works fine and costs less than that to buy new? 😕

Mine was only £130.

Your shop *told you* RS quoted £195
How much do you trust the shop?

I would guess, that the price quoted includes the price of a replacement shaft if it's worn along with the service.

Took mine into the LBS as the seat had some back and forth play after 18 months hard use. Sent off to Fishers who say the "collar" is worn and that this will cost £90 including a service.

Crazy!

But I wouldn't be without it now.

Must have been re-lubed with pure unicorn tears as well for that price. 😛

Yes, we've bought a large quantity of these resulting in the price going up considerably. Not to be confused with the lower grade kitten tears 😉

Mine stopped working completely, Bike shop sent it to Rockshox, they sent me a new boxed one. They had already serviced it once under warranty and replaced the remote lever FOC.

Unless Rockshox have changed policy or personnel, I would be looking at getting it sent back to you without them doing any work on it and buying a new one, and asking serious Q's at the LBS

Quick update, post back at the shop, Sram refused to reduce material costs on the repair or offer a deal on a new one. I have sent an email to Fisher myself, I will let you know how I get on. I have looked at the manual and cant find a mention of the service intervals just to get it serviced by a dealer. Any one else found mention of the intervals?

This is not meant to offend but that's a load of crap.

Why don't you just let loco do it for a third of what sram are asking?

Well said patriotpro and plus 1 about the "load of crap" bit.
If I said I have been using pressure washers on all of my bikes for the last 20 years - I should be burning in hell according to the anti hose brigade 😉

Glad i have a GD practically nothing to lube and a service is some grease on a spring and a new gear cable
Once needed new guides [ 3 + years use] and they are almost five whole pounds

I would agree that common sense would suggest something like a dropper post requires servicing at certain intervals.. BUT I also am sure there is no mention of this in the retail packaging or manuals that come with the post.

How can RS say you didn't service it enough if they don't tell you when you buy it what the intervals are??!

OP if you can't get it any cheaper then simply buy another (Another brand if thats how RS treat their customers)

They did the same for Hammerschmidt; no mention of service or intervals and then decline any responsibility when some parts turn to cheese.

I've had 3 Reverbs under warranty and this last is now playing up too; maybe I need to learn to service it myself.

Because the post is worn and new post plus seals and service is £195. I think thats whoever I take it to. I obviously wont pay that but thats the quote.

Todays update, Rock shox have come up with a compromise. I'm happy that there is middle ground, but will make sure the dropper is serviced with greater regularity in the future. I've been told to service as aften as the forks.

I really want a dropper post, but these kind of threads really put me off. and Reverb is the market leader, still with so many problems and issues? Ill stick with my Thomson for now I think.

Compromise is?

There was nothing about servicing with my reverb.

just sent mine back to fishers via lbs as it kept needing bleeding every ten weeks and started to have more than normal play. originally bought from Germany but got it all sorted for £50 including service. it's a year old so happy to pay that sort of money on servicing every year

A new post at a good price, Organic the Reverbs are the best, they're just not a fit and leave product. I realised they would need servicing but I now know a lot sooner. That really was the point of the post. Well and dropping out the way on a down hill.
