mine is just over a year old, used once or twice a week. All working fine and gets a wipe down with Fork Juice after every ride. Only thing I have noticed is that if it is compressed and I pick bike up by saddle it sometimes comes up, but not something I do often as rarely leave compressed. So should these posts go off for regular servicing like forks or just continue as is ?
Yes I'd suggest full service every 12 to 18 months, as dirt does get inside them and knackers, bushes, shafts etc, it only takes a few componetents to wear out for them to be beyond economical repair so worth it.
They're under as much if not more pressure than a rear shock and directly in the firing line of any muck that comes off the back wheel too (unles you run a mudgaurd that is ๐ )
Apparently, you really don't want to pick it up when the saddle is dropped. Don't know what it actually does, but that seems to be the down with them.
what Fork goop do you lot use, is it a silicon spray? I've got some "3 in 1" Silicon lubricant that I've been using after rides?
Sui - I use Fork Juice
Greg - yeah, I heard that too, and have only done it a few times, incl yesterday, when I've forgotten. Will probs look to a service later in the summer, cheers all
I was wary about opening up my Reverb so didnt and just left it, too long as it turns out, and now have a scored stanchion. I've since opened it up and its a doddle to do a basic clean, lube, even change o-rings bottom bush etc, easier than most forks i'd say. As long as you don't delve into the mechanism you'll be fine.
Main issue with the lower service is how to clamp the air shaft that's attached to the air valve head, have had a few in with the rod marked (which is a sealing surface so leaks and damages seal if marked)
