Hi all,
I'm trying to decide whether to upgrade my Giant Defy to the latest Ultrega Di2 disc groupset, which seems pretty good value to me with the upgraded shadow mech, synchro shift options and lovely new sleek levers and Ultegra disc brakes. What I can't work out is how easy retrofitting it will be - specifically whether I can route all of the cables internally using a cable routing tool and the access point under the bottom bracket, and whether the battery can be easily seated in the seat tube / how best to secure it there. Or - does the bottom bracket (pressfit) have to come out to do the job, in which case should I just be leaving it to the LBS...?

The battery sits easily in the seat tube, the bodge is with some foam, the proper way is with a bung that you can buy for £5 ish. You will need to take the BB out to fit it, I can't think of a way of fitting it without doing that.
Personally, I'd take it to the LBS, it can be an easy job, but it can also be a proper pain.
Once I'm into the realms of removing a pressfit bottom bracket I think it's LBS all the way...! This is what I had assumed from looking at my bottom bracket with the chainset removed - no obvious way to do it. Thanks for the reply.
I think it’s a doddle tbh, but if removing and refitting bb’s is tripping you up, then def sub it out. It’s not hard to do, but getting cable and hoses through a frame can be taxing at times.
