You can never have too much of nice ‘Zokes - not in the world I live in anyway. I haven’t used anything else for years.
I miss my old bombers (and shivers). I can almost fell the plushness looking at those pics.
Geo looks a bit off on most of those bikes now though doesn't it? Doesn't seem like that long ago...
I've got a pair of 130mm DropOff's kicking around the garage somewhere, I really should dig them out and see if I can do something with them.

OH had some Z1s on a bike a few years ago and they were lush. You're all terrible people, I'm looking at Marzocchis on ebay now.
With retro and bomber in the title I was expecting a thread full of a certain old Raleigh.
Got some Z1 Anniversary forks hanging up in the garage which aren't being used but aren't going anywhere either. They're still bloody good forks.
I would if I could see how you put pictures up now.
Just have to imagine some 'classic' orange Z1 BAM in a rather filthy state, clashing with more than complimenting the yellow Kilauea frame they are on.
Is that setup for a child Matt - the stem angle is unusual for an mtb otherwise?
Got some Z2's on my lava dome in the garage...awesome forks.
My newest forks a set of 2007 Z1 SL. They're lovely and light, so I stuck a big 'un hub in them..

Have they got the Doppio Air spring? I’ve got a set of Z1’s in Greece, that I was using up until last year, when they were replaced by a set of shim stack modded 55TST2’s.
I must send them back home here sometime and rebuild them with new seals and bushes. I’ve got both the Doppio air spring and coil - they were last used with the coil spring.
I've got some 2001 Z3 on my Orange P7. 130mm travel, 20mm hub. Awesome forks. Keep thinking I should upgrade for something newer but then I think "why"? They are still far too good to retire.
I wish I was better at data backup back in the day. Used Marzocchi's exclusively for near enough 10 years and I've got pretty well no pictures. Sigh.
Facebook to the rescue for my DH bike circa 2008:

Those shivers were plushtastic, and did sterling service for 7 years. Still worked perfectly when I sold them on!
Matt OutnAbout, are those X-Fly 100s?
sorry, cant get this image to work

Have they got the Doppio Air spring? (how do you do quotes with this newfangled system?)
Yes they're the Doppio system. I'm still fiddling with pressures most times I go out just to get a feel for how they work. I haven't been inside them yet and the damping knob on the bottom of one leg is broken so I see a rebuild looming. I fear they maybe a little more complicated inside than the usual Bombers I'm used to servicing. Definitely worth it though, they're a great fork.
Here are some other Bombers in the collection, both on the same bike at different times.
98/99 Jr T's. Had them since 2003. My first real suspension forks! (Chilli's just don't count). I love these forks and am really happy to have them back on a bike after a few years laying dormant.
2003 Dirt Jumper 3 130mm. The last year of the alloy stanchions, way lighter than the later steel versions. Strangely the tyre clearance is worse than on the T's above.
