Right just tried to remove a very stiff cassette

The lockring was murder to undue, the first ring of th cassette popped off , but the cassette wouldnt come.

So i pulled it and it seems to have taken the freehub with it...

I take it this unusual?

I know nothing about hubs but is this something that happens with older hope hubs?

Think its an old ti glide

So is the freehub screwed or is it just a case of loosening the freehub?

How am i best to do this? Put a bit of wood on the portruding bit of freehub an hit it?

Hub was smooth and working fine before....

Those cogs should slide off under normal conditions.

Place the freehub part on something solid and tap the cogs off with a hammer. You shouldn't need to do too much work unless there's rust in there.

The freehub just slides off. The cassette will have dug into the splines on the freehub and be jammed.

You might need two chain whips to free the smaller sprockets. As said above they've dug into the freehub body. Nothing serious, easy enough to fix. You might get it free by putting the wheel back in the bike, use the chain on the larger sprockets(to hold the cassette in place) and the chainwhip on the lowers to back them off
