Hi,

after seeing the thread about ' daeath by dangerous driving' i htought i'd share this little story.

Basically, todya i had to go on a 'young drivers awareness course'. This is because i was caught doing 80 mph on a clear dual carraige way road. I dont normally speed, but like everyone, i do occasionally, but only on bigger roads. Being under 25 in my area, means that i had the choice between education or punishement. Eg 3 points and fine, or fine and go on a 2 hour course.

Any way, my point is i was shocked by some of the other offenders attitudes. ONe guy seemed to be boasting that he was caught doing 47 in a 30 zone.... But what really wound me up was their attitude towards bikers.

We were asked 'what things tend to wind you up, whilst you are driving?'. There werew normal responses like slow drivers, people who tailgate etc, plus a shout of 'cyclists!'. Obviously this really bugged me, so i asked why cyclists were so annoying? ( didnt meantion i was one yet). A few people piped up with comments like 'they dont deserve to be on the road, if you cant afford a car, then you shouldnt be aloud to use the roads'. Another gem was 'theyre so self righteous, they think their better than people who drive cause they're not using petrol'. ( they arent exact quotes, but you get the gist of it.

Anyway i was preety pissed of by now, and let the people (especially one, rather attractive girl) know this...

Anyway my point is, well there is no point, i was just surprised, and angry at what some of them said ( not a single person spoke in support of cyclists except myself). I didnt realise so many people had sucha dislike for cyclists....

Sorry for boring you, if you read this far.

Strangely the guy giving the presentation, didnt say a word...

I thought the one about being able to afford a car quite amusing... I pointed out that i could easilly go and spend 5000 on a bike tomorow...
