so ive watched the videos of how to bleed the brakes but how about replacing all the fluid, cant u just undo the both bleed nipples/grub screws(whatever u want to call them) and then syringe a load of fluid up till the new fluid comes out at the lever end?

It works on motorcycle brakes so cant see why it wont on these.

Yes, I did much the same recently. My bike is now running with Honda brake fluid as a result.

you can, but my personal experience is that Avid brakes are VERY sensitive to trapped air. most of the in-depth official bleeding method centres around deaerating the new fluid and that already in the system. you pays your money and you takes yer choice....

You will get better results by following the manual, by pulling on the syringe you get a vacuum and can see the tiny bubbles come out.

The OP can still de-air the new fluid before pushing it through the system...

Just squeeze the fresh fluid through gently & they should be ok. When you've replaced the fluid it probably won't hurt to follow their bleed procedure.

When you follow the bleed procedure you are effectively replacing the fluid in the system from the bottom up - so I would suggest just following it, but use a 3/4 full syringe from the caliper end so you can flush it through.

Have a look at the above link which is the best guide and video I've come across to explain what to do especially with degassing the fluid, the normal bleed process will replace the fluid anyway so just make sure you have enough degassed fluid in the caliper syringe to do this.
