I've just had some fun and games removing a seized pad retaining screw from an Ultegra caliper as the Shimano one appears to be made of something ridiculously soft!

Does anywhere sell decent quality replacements or is it just a case of either buying a Shimano replacement or just using a split pin?

Swiss stop pads also come with a replacement pad bolt, Allen headed as well so a improvement on the shimano one

I don’t know why the road calipers have a flat blade screwdriver fitment but the mtb ones have a Allen head, but it’s not a good change

Split pin or 1" of the J-end of a spoke is my elegant favourite.

There always seems to be some corrosion between the pin and caliper for us. I was reluctant to use grease on the threaded portion, but a tiny smear seems to improve matters. However we also use split pins as they havnt generated any problems for us.
