Morning all,
The On One Free Ranger comes fitted with Pannaracer Comet Hardpack 700 x 38 tyres but does not specify if these are set up tubeless or in fact tubeless ready. Working on the assumption they won't be either, what would be a suitable replacement for setting up tubeless? The bike would predominantly be used for mixed terrain, incluing road, tarmacced and non tarmacced park and river side paths, gravel trails, bridleways, footpaths for commuting and longer rides to get winter miles in.
I have always used Schwalbe and Vittoria tyres so logic would dictate something like a G One or Terrano however i am aware that my knowledge of gravel tyres exists of about that! What else should I be looking at or taking into consideration?
I had some WTB Riddlers on previously, they were quite good. At the moment I’m riding Specialized Pathfinder pros.
Liking the look of the Pathfinders, seem to cover a lot of bases. how do you find them and what sort of pressure are you running?
They’re on my do-it-all commuter/gravel bike. They’re durable and long lasting and reasonably grippy. Not great at braking off road.
As they’re on my commuter bike, I run them at “pretty hard” pressure.
I’ve got some Pathfinders setup tubeless on 21mm internal rims that I run at 50psi front, 52psi rear and they are extremely comfortable.
I've tried a few different options over the years but have settled on running Pirelli Cinturato M and leaving them on all year round. Fast enough on the road and handle well off road.
Go as wide as your frame allows (guessing 40mm ish) based on my old Space Chicken.
