My Stumpjumper is looking a bit ugly as the lettering has started to dissapear in high use areas on the frame. As the frame is anodized does anybody know how to remove all the lettering safely without touching the base colour? I'd tried a little paint thinner on a rag and have removed about 3mm but is there a trick to removing it quickly?

if it's just stickers over anodising ( no lacquer ) then plain boiling water will help shift the glue, but you'll need to scrape/peel too.

Are you sure it's anodised? I don't think that they are.

Anodising won't 'come off' in the same way as paint.

waft a hot air gun/hair dryer over the area to soften the adhesive holding the stickers on & then scrape off?
Clean off residual adhesive with something like IPA.

There's been a few anodised S-Works, and the 2004 Stumpjumper 100 was anodised black. The only frame they've ever done with decals over anodising was the 2001 S-Works, which was black, the decals usually lasted about 20 seconds!

Assuming it's not that frame you can often just scratch the lettering off with your nail. Not sure of any other way really, I don't know how they're applied, they're not etched on most of them, but they're pretty tough. Muc-Off etc may work, but it will damage the base colour.

I've got two stumpies (s-works) that have paint over anno. so they do exist well in my reality anyway:-)
Cellulose thinners will take the paint off, paint stripper, or nail varnish remover. the trick is to find a bit of anno not on show and try it.
It won't strip the anno off, but it might stain it.
Don't use anything abrasive as this will scratch the anno.
Take your time.
Cheers

Cheers Guys, and Speshpaul/njee20 you're right they are paint over ano as apposed to stickers/laquer etc. Stumpjumper Pro 2004 in black. The only other option I guess is to create a stencil and have the lettering re-applied. Just want to go for the easiest option and I quite like the stealth non-branded look. I'll have a go tonight!! Cheers ๐Ÿ™‚

I'd just try scraping them with your nail, more often than not you can scratch them off, although it works much better on the outline lettering that if it's solid.
