Going to move my brake levers outboard of my shifters, but do I need some sort of blanking plate to fill the gap on the shifter where the window housing used to be? The shifters are shimano LX.

Thanks

Yes. I think some shifters come with them, but my old LX ones didn't.

I made some from a scrap sheet of carbon fibre and I think i stuck a small piece of inner tube underneath to try & create a weather seal.
Depending on your shifters, you might be able to get proper ones though.

SLX have them also, but tbh, black insulation tape works fine.... doesnt affect shifting, but they are wrecked fairly quickly from grit and water ingress.

Just give them a flush out WD40,no windows on my XT's and not bothered with tape and the right hand one has got the bottom cracked off and had no probs for 12 month's!

Park Innertube patches make quite a neat job of this. Performance with other brands may vary.
