I need to get strip down a truvativ firex chainset and am struggling to get the non drive crank off. It appears from that this should be self extracting - but I am not clear how and don't want to end up stripping threads etc. Please can someone explain how to do this. Thanks!

Leave the outer, larger Allen bolt alone, just unscrew the smaller, inner one. That will push against the larger one as it undoes, hence "self-extracting".
