[#3027217]

got a new commuting bike - it has a fancy name on the side.

can anyone reccomend a decent reflective tape to stick on the sides and hide the logos and provide me some extra reflective power for the terribly blind drivers up here ? like reflective helicopter tape

having seen many folk attempt this when i worked in the shop it usually ended up in complete disaster with tape not really being stick round the tube - just stuck to it at one point and kinda half stuck to it and the whole lot being a terrible mess(ideal for a commuter probably but i dont want it to look like that !)

respro reflective tape is good. you can probably get it cheaper under other brand names though.

I have loads - email me and I'll send you some.

I bought loads of it as that was the minimum I could buy. I have red, white and amber don't forget teh amber on the pedals.

Keeps it legal and safer (maybe)

If you have a black frame, you can buy sheets of black Respro reflective then cut it to shape. Barely noticable in daylight, but decently reflective at night. Sticks well, my Road Rat frame is plastered in it with no peeling edges or looseness.

i do have a black frame BWD ..... i will look into that stuff - cover up the thorn logos - i very nearly just sprayed it fluro yellow in homage to old school muddyfox couriers - but i dont have time for that .

stupid bike anyway - no guard mounts and will only take an oldman mountain pannier rack.

failing the black stuff ill drop you a mail TJ

I've recently used to Respro black stuff. Wife has the grey/silver. It's really good stuff. Subtle in the daylight but does the job in bright light. Sticks like poop to a blanket as well.

Reflective tape seems to come in 2 grades. The most reflective is often referred to as "Diamond" - it's quite thick and doesn't conform to curves very well. This is the sort of stuff you see on ambulances and the like. Respro/Scotch is thinner and more conformable.

cheers for clarification colin - i guess its diamond ive seen folk unsucessfully apply to bikes

the side visibility is a side issue for me tbh - i just want to hide the logos on that bike .... - the saddle spends most of its time under a tescos bag so its hidden anyway ๐Ÿ˜€

And when you cut it, cut smooth curves on the edges. No sharp corners to peel. (but you knew that didn't you).
