I'm going touring and would like to use presta tubes in schraeder drilled rims. This is because I've got about 10 pumps and none of them are effective in getting air into schraeder valves.

The last few Mavic rims I bought had little plastic reducer inserts with them. Can you buy these? I need 4 of them.

Also, anyone got any experience of the presta-schraeder screw-on convertor that let's you use a car pump on a presta valve? Do they work?

Ta.

my LBS has a load - try yours ๐Ÿ™‚ The placy inserts work perfectly ๐Ÿ™‚

And the convertor is fine - its the other end thats often the problem - If it a decent car pump it should be fine ๐Ÿ™‚

The presta-schraeder converter things do work very well.

Dunno about the other bit.

Check the screw-on rings on your tubes, some- Schwalbe for sure, maybe some others- are designed with a little shoulder to act as a step-down for schrader holes, eliminating the need.

Good point from Northwind, always wondered why they were like that. Regarding the adaptors, I got a few included brass ones which never seemed to work, until I bought one which has a small O ring in the side that attaches to the valve, which is perfect.

There's no need to fit any sort of reducer
