If you're reading this thinking 'sounds interesting', well, I'm afraid you missed it.
I was there though, with a couple of friends and I just wanted to let everyone know what a great time we all had.
30km round the trails of the Crychan Forest in glorious sunshine, for me certainly, it was a great introduction to what Wales has to offer in terms of mountain biking and very different to what I've experienced down in deepest darkest Devon. The event is in it's infancy and as a result there weren't many participants but that worked in our favour as it meant we were guided round the route by the event organiser Tony who knows the area like the back of his hand and truly rides just for the love of it.
Tony runs Green Dragon Activites and really believes in promoting the fun side of cycling rather than the competitive. I'd urge you all to check them out and rediscover what being out on your bike with your mates is all about.
Peace out.
Agreed ๐ Me and Huw had an awesome time, dead chuffed you guys had an awesome guided tour of the forest - it was our first ride in the Chrychan and we;ll most definitely be back ๐
Hope you had a good ride at Cwmcarn - proper diversity in what Wales has to offer in a single weekend - top stuff.
well done tony, sounds like you did a good job.
next mtb event in the area is he cambrian bike fest, run by red kite events, have a look at www.redkiteevents.co.uk . this will be a 3 day event (with options of 1 or 2 days) taking in the different areas in our local area.
Defo, we'll be back for sure!
Never made it to Cwmcarn unfortunately as we were near dead the next day - not quite as fit as you XC race whippets! ๐ณ
But a great excuse to come back again!
We were both feeling it the next day too, we had a road ride in our plans so ended up doing 90km on very tired legs.
Monday's rest day was so well received. As were the pints of IPA ๐
If you fancy a good challenge a bit closer your way, the Bontrager Twentyfour12 event in Plympton is top notch - you could enter a team for the 12 hour or go for the full 24 ๐ I'll be there supporting my missus' 24 hour solo, so feel free to pop over if you fancy a beer and some gels ๐
Yeah, I'd like to try the 24/12, Rich - the larger of our trio, did it last year and really enjoyed it.
Alas I will be out of action then as I'm due a knee op shortly before but I may well come down to watch.
