Me too. Simple, lightly padded, boxer-short length.

If it’s just the liners you want, I and a male friend both LOVE the madison liner shorts. I’ve just picked up another set I love them so much.

I've had some terrible liners that came with shorts recently. One feels like it goes half way up my back with barely anything where it needs to be. Another feels like it would be ok if the manufacturer hadn't also introduced a small toy cushion into it having the effect of raising me up another half inch on top of the saddle. Oh and the Ali Express liners binned after two washes cos they tried to hibernate in my bum crack.

Morvelo (and the evil word bibs) go on give them a try, you know it makes sense, they are just well, better.

Morvelo ..quite simply the most comfortable padded liners I have worn in 20+ years of riding mountain bikes ..(the non bib version don't move..so unless thats your thing aren't particularly needed)

Madison bib, keeps the pad in place better than boxer type. Whatever ones suit your budget.

Picked up some Madison Roam Liners last year and they've been good for up to 4 hour MTB rides.

Whilst leotards are hideous, the comedy potential is high and the comfort and faff free riding they bring make it all worth it. Go Bibs! (Fat Lad At the Back for me 😆 )

Best I've found in recent years are the One Industries Blaster Elite.

CRC sold out now but still available at good prices in limited sizes a few other places on the web.

Durable, comfy and a nice supple, textured pad - not the thick nappy type thing you get in cheaper version (and other cheapershorts).

Go Bibs

I do like my bibs, more in the colder months or when wet for the back cover. But god they make having a trail side wee difficult! Also when you need a number 2 and go to the loo having to take your top off to get your arms out and then sit there basically naked...
