[#11892512]

Afternoon Folks,

I'm after a pair of flat bar /canti / long pull levers to pair with some road disc callipers.

The retro grouch in me would go Dia Come SS5/6/7, X-Lite Chicken Stix or even some old 4 finger XT levers.

Before I go that route have you any good suggestions of something more modern?

Thanks in advance,

M 🙂

I looked into this at length last year when I was building up my fiancee's flat bar road bike.

I ended up with Shimano R780 levers, which are lovely and not that expensive at just under £40 on Wiggle including decent cables. They also let you adjust the cable pull so could cope with MTB calipers if necessary.

Probably no nicer than Chicken Stix or old XT ones though.

Mrs_oab runs some retro Avid Speed Dial 7's for this job. I couldn't find any Ultimates...

Interesting [strokes chin] SD levers/Ultimates are my go to for V's and MTN cable discs but didn't think they worked well/just didn't with cantis/long pull set ups .....

Paul Components are the default for ‘nice’ ones aren’t they?

SD7's on Tektro Airies.

They play nicely.

I've been using these - super light, very simple set up and look nice too.....

To be honest, I'd go for some MTB levers and swap the calipers for some MTB ones too. The shorter cable pull if caliper brakes just doesn't seem to work too well or disc brakes.

Or just buy a full set of Clarke m2 hydraulic brakes for about £50...
