I am getting on pretty well with some XT ones. They look cool too.

Otherwise, the ubiquitous 819 on Pro2 will see you straight.

hope pro II with mavic XM719 are on my bike. still true which I am surprised at. my first "proper" wheels though so can't compare too much. I love em though. would use em for everything apart from full on DH and freeride. used mine for a long weekend of dh in the alps where they got a good beating so I'm not surprised at the "I ran macvic xm719's for a weeks dhing in the alps" comment

ive got pro two on xm321 and some dt ex1750 both good i like them as both can run with different adaptors for different forks. Both good i wouldnt say the dt ones were worth the extra over the others but they do look nice 🙂

Specialized Roval Traversee Tubeless wheels are fantastic, light and strong.....I have used these at the Lakes, Peaks and Wales and still running true....bit pricey but worth it.

Bontrager rythm wheelsets appear farily often on ebay around the £100 mark or £130 for the elites.

Hope pro 2 hubs with DT EX500 rims. Just bought a back wheel for the summerseason. I've had the same spec wheel on the enduro for 3 years and never needed to service or true it. Bear in mind I'm 21 stone and you can see they are pretty tough.

£160ish on CRC/Wiggle etc...

I'm selling a pair of XT AM. 20mm front, wide rim, bomb proof. Used by a lot of the World Cup 4X racers due to strength and relatively low weight.

Hope Pro 2 on DT 5.1 is what i run on my blur lt2, im 12 stone kitted up and they have been running for 12 months with no issue - although iv replaced a spoke on the rear. Best thing is, you get a few spare spokes with the wheel. They survived siera nevada and trips to cwmcarn

Im going to move this wheelset over to my new orange alpine 160 when it arrives!

I've been very pleased with my Roval Traversees. I did bust a spoke, but only with some clumsy riding on the fort william world cup DH course so it'd be churlish to complain 😉 Also had a spoke nipple crack but it was beside the spoke which was replaced so I guess it was overstressed at the time, and just didn't let go til later. But they're light, yet strong, and not badly priced. Tubeless compatible too.

Only real downer is parts availability, it took my LBS 6 weeks to find a replacement spoke. But then Freeborn keeps them in stock, if I'd only know that at the time.

Just picked up a set of Bontrager Rhythms as spares, they've not arrived yet and I dont really know what to expect from them but then, they cost me buttons.

Blimey Northwind, that's weird. I'm the only other person I know to have broken a spoke on traversees, and again, that was being very clumsy. The spooky bit is that I've just bought some rhythms too for my pitch. I've been really impressed so far on a strength/weight basis, and have put up with plenty of mud. They were intended as a stopgap before getting some pro2/flows, but I don't think I'll bother for now.

For anyone thinking of buying traversees, they've added a new cheaper AL model for 2010, which can be found for £350ish. They're about 200g heavier, I think that's mainly in the hubs, not the rims, so would be a good choice I reckon. The cheapest I've seen the ELs is £500, which is a hell of a lot more than they were when they came out.

i've had no probs with the wtb rims on pro 2s that came as standard on my p7 2 years ago. i'm a portly gent who can't land for shit and they're still running true.

XT M776 - 20mm forks required though. Strong, light, tubeless and look good too.
