In Morzine with a partially healed broken collar bone for two weeks. I'm not up for riding anything difficult yet, just wondering what XC trails are recommended?
Preferably nothing harder than a blue.
Is any of it accessible without a lift pass?
Some unmarked alpine tracks would be cool too.
Thanks
Passportes route is all xc, though uplift accessed and steep or narrow in places. A French blue grade really, as long as you keep off the DH options. In UK they'd grade it black but only because of the length if you did it all. You could probably pick bits of it though, and if up for it climb rather than uplift, though I'd pay for the uplift personally as it's a fair way up to the trails.
In fact you might want a pass to take the lift down if coming down Super Morzine side as the fireroad zig zag is relentless and heavy on brakes or otherwise fast and potentially dangerous if you're dealing with a partially healed bone. Though you can go down the road which is easier.
Ppds route us a good option. You will need lifts. The red and black off either side of les gets are nice. There's one nasty bit down to a river crossing on the black which you'd be better off walking. Both could be done without a lift but it'll be a big climb to start. Ignore the colour grading. Most of the unmarked stuff I've done has been rather steep and loose.
Thanks for the help, I'll take a look into the passportes route.
The long route from Croset to Champery is pretty mellow, the route down the Sassex valley from Pt. De Mossette to Morgins is nice. Theres a route from the tpop of Les Chevannes that goes the back way into Morzine that's quite decent.
If you end up having to use the tarmac - be careful in the wet - slippier than the trails!
