Hi all, looking to get some new glasses for biking. Don' need to be really fancy or break the bank as at some point I'll drop them on the trail.
Ones I'm using at the min fog up a lot and my eyes water once I pick up speed.
Thanks.
Check out Rad8 MTB Glasses.
Got the 502 and 504 frames with photochromic, anti-fog lenses and they're both excellent. The new 504 Mudhugger, which I've also got, has a new and improved anti-fog coating and after a month or so of everyday use, I've had zero fogging so far.
Review of the 502 on my blog.
if it's clear lenses then the screwfix dewalt ones are fine, if #notcool
Popped out and bought some of those Bolle after seeing this thread 🙂
I've got some of those bolle's but a few year old (look virtually identical if not the exact same model). They are the worst cycling glasses I've used, just steam up constantly, offer great protection but could hardly ever see out of them. Ended up just wearing them for descents so could of just worn my DH goggles #enduro 🙂
So in typical stw fashion I'm going to recommend the sungod pacebreakers I've recently bought. Is 65 quid really that too expensive for a decent pair of glasses?
After losing a pair of expensive specialized adaptalites a few years back I vowed never to go expensive again, but after trying loads of cheap ones I'm glad I went back on that.
In the grand scheme of it all it's not a huge amount to spend for what I gain. They make the riding more pleasurable, don't steam up, don't move about on my head (which most the safety glasses do, and I've tried loads) and my eyes don't water (contact lense wearer).
But each to their own and those that get on with the safety glasses fair play. I wear them at work and certainly don't want to be wearing them when doing something for fun 🙂
BBB impress? Come in 2 different sizes with clear, yellow, and smoke lenses.
Really happy with mine.
I love my Rudy Project Rydon. Had them a few years now and built up collection of lenses of which the cheap racing red get most riding time on or off road. I use them on vacations or driving in sun too. Have clip in prescription lens so cheap to sort when my prescription changes without impact to lens collection. Got from RXSport who are great.
Think carefully on lens colour, not the outer appearance or mirror finish, the actual shade of lens applied to your vision.
Red / Brown are great for boosting contrast off road making roots and rocks easier to pick out. Or onroad in overcast conditions.
The typical grey that many lenses come in (I have three) are crap for MTB, fine for bright days on road, and leisure use. They muddy contrast making it harder to see. I made the mistake of photochromic grey rather than brown.
Polorising lenses are great when driving or at the beach. Not so great when riding. Whilst they cut glare, they also hide damp slippy surfaces. You don't want that.
I have had the Bolle and Alpkit glasses, both do fog up but clear once you get going again. Both glasses have done well for the cost, I prefer the Alpkit ones as they come with 3 lenses. I have some Endura ones that I need to try in the summer.
Thanks for the replies. Been looking them up and some dick all the boxes.
I always like to dick all the boxes...
Always wear protective glassess when dicking all the boxes
Seen that and thought for the greater good I'll leave it in.
