Specialized Roubaix Elite 2001. Dont think it has any fittings for mudguards (maybe it does, not sure?), so is there anything like a crud catcher for road bikes?

Crud have a newish road crudguard.

I use SKS race blades - find they work just as well as 'proper' mudguards in the real world.

Agreed but in practice, I've found it makes no noticeable difference. The downside on the crud product for me is it's not as easy to take on/off as the raceblades.

I found the Cruds got jammed up with compacted mud too quickly on dirty winter roads

Thanks all, Ive ordered some Crud roadracer Mk2's from Wiggle (on back order) as I had a £5 off code. Seems they get very mixed reviews (for sizes above 23mm) but I will give them a shot, as Ive got 23mm tires.

I was planning on getting a disc fitted cross bike for commuting, but fitting mudguards and some new break pads for the road bike seems a much cheaper option, until my employment situation is a little more stable at least!!

Ill let you know how I get on with them.

Got the roadracers on this weekend, front fitted very easily, back was a bit trickier, as it needed trimming (as per instructions) and also because Ive got a 25mm tire on the back and there wasnt much clearance at all. Will probably change the 25mm to a 23 for the winter.

Just need it to rain now to test them out properly, but they seem pretty descreet, with no rubbing and seem well worth the money. (esp with a £5 off wiggle voucher).

Will post some pics if I get chance.

SKS Raceblades seem to be the standard for most roadies. I got a set and they work fine

Don't know much about the cruds.

Be interested to hear how yours have performed after "field testing" as need another set and the cruds are obviously cheaper

Crud Roadracer MkII is now out and even better than the original roadracer. - now has full coverage for rear wheel, with a brilliant cov er that protects your front mech/chainset/BB area from detritus, plus full length to the rear.

I've been using a set of early Mk2's and I'll never use my old fave Blumells Olympics from SKS for my winter bike again.. The cruds are really very good.
